Fall Day Trip to Elizabeth Furnace and Passage Creek

Last weekend in my search for autumnal colors I drove out west to the mountains of Virginia to explore Elizabeth Furnace Recreation Area. The drive down Fort Valley Road towards Elizabeth Furnace was beautiful as it ran along Passage Creek at the base of a mountain range. Luckily I was also able to find some fall color to enhance the beauty of the area. This is definitely a scenic drive that I would recommend especially if you want to escape the traffic of Skyline Drive during the fall. It’s always fun to explore places you’ve never been, you’ll never know what you might find! I’ve included a few pictures from my tip below.

Passage Creek which flows into the North Branch of the Shenandoah River.
